Norman provides administrative support to the institute.  She is a member of the Iowa Mental Health Consortium, the Advisory Board of Center for Rural Health and Primary Care at the Iowa Department of Public Health, and the ISU Benefits Committee.  She received the 1996 National Board Leadership Merit Award from the Child Welfare League of America for her work with the board of directors for Orchard Place Child Guidance Center.  Norman was previously the Commissioner of the Iowa Department of Human Services, the Director of the Iowa Department of Human Rights, and the Director of the Iowa Commission for the Blind.
