I was born in Yerevan, Armenia where I earned a Master's degree in Sociology at Yerevan State University 1997. My second Master's degree I completed in Community and Regional Planning at Iowa State University in spring 2003. In Armenia, I conducted research for a number of International organizations such as, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Save the Children, World Bank (WB), Social Investment Fund (SIF), Eurasia Foundation, GTZ - German Technical Support Organization, and etc. Areas of research that I have been involved in are: health care, community development, mass media, poverty, children in institutions, national minorities, gerontology, and etc. While still in Armenia, I also got specialized in the area of gender and women studies. Participated and presented a paper in the international summer school on gender and women studies in Azov, Russia1998. After that I was engaged in the "Support to the Gender and Development in Armenia" UNDPI project and trained a number of women NGOs on gender issue. I live in Ames, Iowa with my family for 4 years now. At this moment, I am assisting Debbie Bahr in managing "Family Transitions Project" from who I learned a lot about this unique and wonderful project. Theses paper topic for Sociology degree is "Image of Old Woman in Armenia" (In Russian.) Theses paper topic for a CRP degree is "A Case Study of Housing Issues of New Hispanic Immigrants" (In English.) |
